    Praise on a Postcard

    POPs are awarded for one off remarkable achievements, progress, community involvement, effort, attendance and resilience.  These postcards are worth 25 house points. 

    Getting Life Ready Merits

    These are awarded to help students develop GLR skills. Once a full set of merits is achieved, students will receive a GLR Commendation in recognition of ongoing development of this important skillset and approach to learning.  GLR Commendations are worth 50 house points. 

    School Colours

    These are the public recognition of exemplary students and embody what it is to be truly 'Remarkable'. They acknowledge a consistent commitment to a variety of fields over a student's time at BHS, whilst also encompassing the whole array of GLR skills and characteristics. There is a badge for each School Colour.

    Half Colours

    Students need to achieve five of the DARE criteria from the four different criteria. One achievement must be made in each category with the fifth being optional which category it is from.  Half-colours is targeted at students in Years 7-9.  

    Full Colours

    Students need to achieve five of the DARE criteria from the four different criteria. One achievement must be made in each category, with the fifth being optional as to which category it is from.  Half-colours is targeted at students in Years 10 and 11. 

    Sixth Form Colours

    Students need to achieve five of the DARE criteria from the four different criteria. One achievement must be made in each category, with the fifth being optional as to which category it is from. To achieve the award, the student would need to apply for 6th form colours by February Half Term of Year 13. 

    School House System

    The school House system is what brings students together across the different year groups.  Below you'll learn about the women each House represents, and find out more about our current Senior Prefects of which the House Captains are part of.

    At the core of our House system lie some key values that carry us all through life. These will be familiar to our students, as they are the cornerstones of our Getting Life Readyn (GLR) initiative.   

    Benazir Bhutto was the first female prime minister of Pakistan and the first female Muslim prime minister in the world. She is an inspiration not only to women around the world but to every individual. We work hard to ensure Bhutto students feel part of the House community by building friendships and encouraging team spirit.  

    Bhutto students are strong, resilient and courageous, and we strive to create a society of students who look out for each other throughout their time at Beaconsfield High. 

    Malorie Blackman OBE is a British writer, Children's Laureate (2013 to 2015) and writer of books such as the Noughts and Crosses series, Pig Heart and Hacker. 

    She has been influential in a variety of fields, including the music industry where her writing about modern-day social problems has inspired the lyrics of rapper Stormzy!

    Margaret Hamilton was an American computer scientist, systems engineer and business owner. She was the leading director of the Software Engineering Division of the MIT Instrumentation Laboratory, which developed onboard flight software for the Apollo space program.  

    As a leading woman in what was seen as a man’s industry, she should not only be seen as an inspiration to aspiring female scientists and engineers but by all who aspire to change and shape the world. 

    Dame Kelly Holmes became a double gold Olympian in 2004 in the 800m and 1500m track events. Before she competed in the Olympics, she joined the army at the age of 17 and eventually became the face of MoneyForce, an organisation offering money advice to the UK Armed Forces. 

    Holmie students believe that ‘Holmes is where the heart is’. We always give back to those who have helped us; be that to our teachers, mentors or our parents and we value every member of our House.

    It took Dame Kelly Holmes 22 years to achieve her double gold after going suffering depression and injury, and she still came out on top.  

    Parks House is a very special House at Beaconsfield High and was named after Rosa Parks, an activist in the civil rights movement and best known for her role in the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Her determination and courage are key traits and influence what we aspire to achieve. 

    Rosa Parks was also known for her ability to accept which is the kind of attitude we celebrate at Beaconsfield High and is also one of our school values - respecting our environment whilst respecting ourselves and others within the school community.  In addition to this, emphasis is placed on having respect for learning and the way in which we learn, which is epitomised by Rosa Parks. 

    Rambert House is named after Dame Marie Rambert, a Polish-born dancer who exerted great influence on British ballet, both as a performer and a teacher. Throughout her life and career, she showed great resilience in pursuing what she truly desired even though she lacked the support and encouragement from those around her. This determination led to the creation of Rambert Dance Company, which is still highly influential and respected in the dance industry to this day.  

    Dame Marie Rambert was chosen as one of our Houses because her life represents the aims and values of our school, that is for all students to strive to achieve, to empower themselves and to show leadership. 

    Senior Prefects

    Our Sixth Formers are role models for the rest of the school, leading by example and working together to ensure the voice of every student at Becky High is heard. The wide variety of Senior Prefect roles means students can choose the position that plays best to their strengths.  All roles enable students to develop skills and gain experience in key areas including organisation, addressing large groups, driving change, and harnessing their passions – skills that will enable them to go on to leadership roles in the future and allows them to become confident, resilient individuals.
