Our A-Level programme blends academia with leadership, creativity, teamwork, resilience and independent thinking. We believe it is this combination of learning and involvement that prepares you for life after Becky High Sixth. Our staff - talented subject specialists with broad life experience - prefer a respectful and collaborative approach when working with sixth form students and, in return, we encourage independence, commitment and maximum effort from you. 

The Sixth Form Team works closely with the Student Leadership Team to ensure we are providing everything our sixth form students need to thrive and excel. Once you join us, we work hard to develop your character, foster your acumen and build your future aspirations.

Grade Requirements 

Students are required to achieve a minimum of 46 points from their best 8 GCSEs, including a minimum of 5 points in both English language or English literature and mathematics. In addition, students must meet the entry requirements for each of the A-Level courses for which they have applied. 

The majority of our students study three A-Levels and one of the following:

• Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
• AS-Level French or Spanish 
• Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award
• Young Enterprise. 

The option to study a fourth full A-Level is only a possibility for students who achieve at least 64 points from their best 8 GCSEs. 

Students wishing to study further maths as a fourth A-Level, who have not quite achieved the minimum of 64 points, but who show a real strength in maths and further maths at GCSE will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Please note that admission is also dependent upon there being space in the classes for the chosen courses and that the combination of courses fits the school’s timetable. Very occasionally, insufficient interest in a course can mean that it no longer runs. In all cases, we will work with you to identify a combination of courses that aligns with your strengths and future aspirations.

A-Level Options

Students must enjoy what they are going to be studying; two years is a long time and the hard work and dedication required to ensure success has to be balanced with real enthusiasm and motivation. Enjoyment comes when we spend time doing what we are good at, so we encourage students to consider carefully where their strengths lie. A description of the A-Level options we can offer can be found in our A-Level Options Guide below. However, the offering differs year-on-year depending on how many students sign up for each subject, staffing and our option blocks.
